RASC News Agency: In Takhar province, a member of the Taliban Group beheaded a young man named Abdulwakil after thwarting the armed Taliban member’s attempt to pilfer money from his residence. Subsequently, the Taliban member, identified as Abdulkhaliq, retaliated by beheading the homeowner and engaging in robbery. Local sources in Takhar province have substantiated this incident involving Abdulkhaliq. Sources continue to assert that Abdulwakil, the principal resident of Mirzabachai Siab village in the Bangi district of Takhar province, engaged in agriculture and livestock farming. While serious concerns have been raised among the people of the country, including Kabul, about the recent surge in home thefts and property by certain Taliban members, this marks the initial instance of individuals being beheaded following the theft of their belongings by members of this group.
Taliban members have previously targeted thousands of Afghanistani youths, accusing them of collaborating with the Republic government or affiliating with opposing groups, resulting in gruesome beheadings. Just a week ago, Taliban insurgents, after launching an attack on the residence of a prominent ethnic figure in this province, pilfered valuables amounting to one million Kabuli rupees, including jewelry. Sources indicate that this incident transpired in the region known as Hazarbagh, within the Khwaja Ghar district of Takhar province. The targeted residence belonged to a distinguished ethnic figure named “Khudaibirdi.” Following the robbery of money and valuables, the Taliban members subjected the son of this notable figure to severe beatings.
While the Taliban consistently denies involvement in negative activities such as murder, arrests, ethical corruption, and theft committed by its members, they have refrained from commenting on this matter. Citizens express vehement criticism, contending that alongside the Taliban’s extortion of the people, armed thefts have surged dramatically at night, prompting profound concerns. The citizens argue that despite the Taliban’s claim to provide security, armed thefts are escalating daily in various Afghanistan provinces, causing heightened anxiety. Citizens argue that those who resist armed Taliban thieves are marked targets, subjected to gunfire, and, inevitably, death at the hands of these individuals. In discussions with RASC News agency, residents from the northern provinces disclose that Taliban members, armed at unconventional hours, masquerade as security providers, forcibly taking valuable possessions, such as money, and persisting in their ruthless acts of violence against the victims.
Experts in the field voice concern about the escalating trend of criminal activities and armed thefts, partly perpetrated by Taliban members. They underscore that not only does the Taliban lack the capability to ensure people’s safety in cities and villages, but in many cases, its members engage in criminal activities, including home thefts. Experts assert that the absence of accountability and group immunity for Taliban members significantly contributes to the increase in armed thefts by these individuals. Despite documented evidence and visual materials illustrating corruption crimes, none of the Taliban individuals or officials have faced legal consequences. Their unchallenged impunity allows armed individuals to wield weapons for theft and other unlawful activities without fear of legal repercussions.
