RASC News Agency: Michael Semple, a former deputy representative of the European Union in Afghanistan, recently expressed his criticism of the process of sending humanitarian aid to Afghanistan under the control of the Taliban group. He referred to the sending of $2.3 billion in aid to an extremist group as a catastrophic political failure. Although he did not support the Taliban group, he suggested that international organizations should identify the process of sending these aids and prevent them from reaching the hands of the Taliban group.
Semple also pointed out that the Taliban group did not achieve victory over America militarily, but rather it was a political defeat that America experienced in Afghanistan. Meanwhile, Shoaib Rahim, the advisor of the Ministry of State for Peace Affairs of the previous Afghanistan government, also criticized the process of sending aid to Afghanistan from the international community. He questioned why the strict response mechanisms that were established for the previous government of Afghanistan were decreasing when it came to the Taliban group.
Rahim further added that this issue is a worrying double standard in donors’ commitments towards Afghanistan under the control of the Taliban group. These criticisms were raised during the Herat security meeting in Dushanbe, the capital city of Tajikistan. It should be noted that the meeting started on Monday, November 27th, with Spanta’s speech and will end today. These criticisms come at a time when the economic situation among Afghanistani citizens has become extremely dire, and the level of poverty and the need for humanitarian aid have increased since the Taliban group took control of the country.
