RASC News Agency: According to reliable sources, a senior member of the Taliban group has recently been apprehended by the group itself. This individual, identified as Bakhshullah Yaftali, held the position of security head for the Taliban’s highway command in Badakhshan province. The arrest took place in Faizabad city, the provincial center, and Yaftali was subsequently transferred to Kabul.
Yaftali’s arrest is believed to be linked to an incident that took place during a drug transfer on the Keshm-Faizabad highway. Following a heated argument, Yaftali allegedly killed four Pashton members of the Taliban and disposed of their bodies in a nearby river. It is important to note that Yaftali is suspected to have connections with Qari Fasihuddin Fitrat, the head of the Taliban group’s army staff, and had been appointed as the commander of the province’s highway.
While the details surrounding Yaftali’s release from the Taliban group remain unclear, speculations suggest that his actions might have been driven by personal grievances. Reports indicate that security forces aligned with the Taliban had previously killed six members of Yaftali’s family. However, no official statement has been issued by either Yaftali’s family or the local Taliban officials in Badakhshan province regarding this incident. This occurrence highlights the internal conflicts and power struggles within the Taliban group, resulting in casualties across multiple provinces.
Prior to this particular incident, the Taliban frequently subjected non-Pashton members of the group to apprehension, torture, imprisonment, and even death in various regions of the country.
