RASC News Agency: The local authorities of the Taliban faction in Panjshir province recently made an announcement regarding the discovery of 40 new emerald mines in the area. During a media briefing on Wednesday, November 15th, Mohammad Qasim Amiri, the head of mines and petroleum for the Taliban group in Panjshir province, revealed this information. These newly found emerald mines are situated in the Parian district of the province.
According to Mr. Amiri, a total of 1,250 emerald mines have been identified in Panjshir province thus far. Out of these, mining licenses have been issued for 550 mines, providing employment opportunities for hundreds of individuals. Furthermore, efforts are being made to initiate the mining processes for gold, ruby, and iron in Panjshir province at the earliest possible time.
The head of mines and petroleum for the Taliban group in Panjshir province also emphasized the high quality and reputation of the emeralds found in this region. He mentioned that over the past two years, the newly extracted emeralds from Panjshir province have been voluntarily shared with both national and international merchants and are being sold.
In addition, it has been announced that the newly mined emeralds will be available for sale again in the upcoming week. Meanwhile, reports indicate that the Taliban group has signed contracts with domestic and foreign companies for the seven largest mines in Afghanistan. However, some sources express concerns that the Taliban may be exploiting Afghanistan’s mines for their own benefit without proper monitoring or consideration for the country’s interests.
