RASC News Agency: A charity organization in Herat province recently sponsored a grand wedding ceremony for 100 young couples. The event, which took place on Sunday, November 12th, was estimated to cost nearly three million Kabuli rupees, the current currency of Afghanistan. Ahmad Shah Ramazani, one of the participants, expressed his belief that such gatherings promote a culture of assistance and support within society. He urged other charitable organizations to follow suit and help young people organize their weddings in order to alleviate the burden of unnecessary expenses.
Ramazani also emphasized the importance of avoiding extravagant customs and unnecessary expenditures during wedding ceremonies. Despite the fact that weddings in Afghanistan’s traditional society can be financially burdensome, he encouraged young people to be mindful of their expenses. It is worth noting that mass wedding ceremonies, supported by charitable institutions, have gained popularity in various provinces of the country. However, it is important to acknowledge that the high costs associated with weddings have led to unfortunate consequences, such as an increase in suicides among young individuals.
It is crucial to mention that since the Taliban’s takeover, unemployment and poverty levels have risen in different parts of Afghanistan. This has resulted in an escalation of violence within certain families. The situation calls for increased support from charitable organizations and the implementation of measures to alleviate the financial strain on young couples during their wedding ceremonies.
Following the Taliban’s seizure of power in the country, the economic conditions for citizens have deteriorated significantly, resulting in a large number of young couples being unable to afford their wedding celebrations.
