RASC News Agency: Stéphane Dujarric, the spokesperson for the United Nations, recently expressed deep concern over the forced expulsion of Afghanistani refugees from Pakistan, stating that this action is profoundly troubling. He warned that Afghanistani women’s rights activists will face serious threats upon expulsion and upon their return to Afghanistan.
The UN spokesperson addressed this issue during a press briefing held yesterday on November 9th, adding that the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees is in contact with Pakistani authorities regarding the forced expulsion of Afghanistani migrants.
Continuing his statement, the UN official said, “The incidents related to the forced expulsion of Afghanistani migrants from Pakistan and their coercive return to Afghanistan are deeply alarming to us.” He emphasized the vital need to provide full support to the Afghanistan people under Taliban rule, considering the prevailing conditions in the country. Necessary support should be provided in various sectors across Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, the recent intensified forced expulsion of undocumented Afghanistani migrants from Pakistan has raised concerns, particularly regarding their return. Women’s rights activists and former government military personnel are among those who are particularly apprehensive.
It is worth mentioning that during their previous control of the country, the Taliban engaged in violent and oppressive actions against Afghanistani women and girls, depriving them of their most fundamental rights.
It should be noted that during their previous rule in the 1990s, the Taliban carried out oppressive actions and engaged in concurrent violent behavior towards women, denying them the right to live in society.
