RASC News Agency: Fereydon Sinirli Oglu, the United Nations Special Coordinator for Afghanistan affairs, held a significant meeting with Sirajuddin Haqqani, the Minister of Interior within the Taliban group. During their discussion, Sinirli Oglu strongly advocated for the lifting of the ban on girls’ education in Afghanistan, responding to demands raised by both international and domestic authorities. Stressing that the removal of restrictions on girls’ education is the only viable solution to the challenges faced by Afghanistan, Sinirli Oglu also highlighted the importance of preventing any threats originating from the country towards other nations. This request, made on Monday, October 23rd, further emphasized the need for equal access to education for all Afghanistani children.
Additionally, in an official statement released by the Ministry of Interior of the Taliban group, Sinirli Oglu shared insights gathered from his discussions with representatives of various nations, revealing that no country desires conflict within Afghanistan. However, a separate statement from the same ministry indicated that Mr. Haqqani did not address the issue of lifting restrictions and barriers to education for Afghanistani girls explicitly. Instead, he emphasized the necessity of resolving these challenges through dialogue.
It is crucial to highlight that during his recent visit to Afghanistan, Fereydon Sinirli Oglu had the opportunity to meet with prominent figures such as former President Hamid Karzai and Abdullah Abdullah, previous government officials. However, it is important to note that the Taliban’s takeover of the country has resulted in severe constraints on the education and social lives of Afghanistani girls.
