RASC News Agency: The health workers of a charitable foundation in Herat, currently involved in providing medical assistance to the victims, have officially reported the identification of two cases of polio among children in this province. On October 19, the Nisar Ahmed Faizi Ghoryani Foundation announced the registration of these two polio cases in Jibrahil, Herat province. Via a social networking platform, the foundation communicated that the two affected children have been promptly transferred for further treatment to the central medical facility in Herat.
Despite recent alerts from an international organization dedicated to eradicating polio, highlighting a rapid spread of the disease in Afghanistan, it is disheartening to note the continuous emergence of polio cases. Merely a month ago, the polio-free organization reported five positive cases in Nangarhar this year alone.
It is worth mentioning that health workers in Afghanistan tirelessly administer vaccinations to children under the age of five every year, yet polio remains persistent in the country. Regrettably, Afghanistan is not alone in this battle, as Pakistan also struggles with the prevalence of polio. While the rest of the world has successfully eliminated polio, Afghanistan and Pakistan continue to combat this disease.
Furthermore, it is apparent that the ministry of public health, which operates under the authority of the Taliban group, has proven unsuccessful in efficiently eliminating instances of polio. It is crucial for this ministry to guarantee the prompt administration of vaccinations to children, rather than neglecting their immunization. Instead, they are prioritizing the activation of departments that seek to regulate the citizens’ way of life.
