RASC News Agency: The Center for Afghanistan Journalists has recently confirmed the release of Saifullah Rezaei and Mujtaba Qasemi, two reporters from Radio Nasim, who were arrested in Daikundi. However, it has been reported that the director of this local media outlet is still being detained in the intelligence unit of the Taliban in Daikundi province. On Wednesday, October 18, the Center for Afghanistan Journalists issued a statement not only announcing the release of the two reporters but also demanding the unconditional release of the media manager and the reopening of Radio Nasim’s office.
In a recent development, the intelligence unit of the Taliban group in Daikundi has once again apprehended the manager and reporters of Radio Nasim. The charges against them revolve around the alleged dissemination of content that the group deems unfavorable to theri policy.
It is important to emphasize that since the Taliban assumed control of Afghanistan, they have consistently imposed numerous restrictions on the media and journalists. Media personnel are required to seek approval from the group for the content of their programs, which are subsequently published under their supervision.
Furthermore, Murtaza Behbodi, a journalist of Afghanistani-French descent who had been unlawfully detained by the Taliban for an extended period, has been successfully liberated from their confinement.
Regrettably, the group has resorted to the arrest, torture, and imprisonment of journalists on multiple occasions. Consequently, a significant number of journalists have been forced to leave the country and seek refuge elsewhere due to the violence perpetrated by this group.
