RASC News Agency: Following the recent attack on Pul-e-Khumri city’s Imam Zaman Mosque, which tragically resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries, the spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry has voiced concern over the perpetuation of religious animosity within Afghanistan and particularly, attacks targeting the Shia community.

On October 16, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs website quoted Maria Zakharova, who vehemently condemned the latest terrorist attack by ISIS against Afghanistan’s Shia minority. Mrs. Zakharova urged the Taliban group to swiftly identify and apprehend those responsible for this abhorrent act.

Moreover, Mrs. Zakharova expressed profound distress about the prevailing conditions in Afghanistan, where terrorist organizations persist in operating, thereby disrupting the peace and stability enjoyed by the Afghanistani population.

Despite the devastating suicide attack that unfolded on October 13 in Pul-e-Khumri, claiming numerous lives and inflicting injuries on many others, the city continues to grapple with adversities. Reports suggest that responsibility for this attack has been claimed by the ISIS group.

It is vital to highlight that this incident has elicited extensive reactions both domestically and internationally, with individuals expressing their condemnation of the Taliban group for their failure to ensure adequate security.

While the Taliban group has consistently emphasized their commitment to overall security in Afghanistan, their shortcomings in fulfilling this commitment have been underscored. It is important to acknowledge that over the past years, the ISIS group has systematically targeted Afghanistan’s Shia and Hazara communities, resulting in significant loss of life among these religious groups.
