RASC News Agency: The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) has recently made a momentous announcement regarding the earthquake that struck Herat province, situated in the western region of the country. Based on their latest findings, an alarming 90% of the victims affected by this devastating event consist of women and children.
In a concerted effort to address this urgent issue, UNICEF turned to social media on Wednesday, October 11, to generate awareness and appeal for significant aid amounting to 20 million dollars. The provision of this funding is imperative to effectively support and assist the impacted individuals in Herat province.
However, amid these tireless efforts, UNICEF has been confronted with yet another unfortunate development. This morning, a series of three consecutive earthquakes rattled Herat and several other provinces in the western region of the country. This further compounds the already dire situation, necessitating immediate attention and allocation of resources to mitigate the impact on the affected communities.
Concurrently, earlier media reports emphasized the disproportionate impact on women and children resulting from the recent earthquake in Herat province. It is crucial to note that this catastrophic event has caused thousands of fatalities, leaving thousands more injured and displaced from their homes.
