RASC News Agency: Given the recent catastrophic earthquake that struck the province of Herat, the Embassy of Afghanistan in Tajikistan has undertaken the solemn decision to hoist the flag of Afghanistan at half-mast, serving as a symbol of mourning and solidarity with the affected populace. This poignant announcement was relayed on Monday, October 9, with the primary objective of expressing collective grief.
In an official proclamation released from the embassy in Dushanba, it has been fervently urged that other political representatives of Afghanistan join in this gesture by likewise lowering their respective country’s flag to half-mast for a commemorative period of three days. The intent behind such a display is to unequivocally demonstrate empathy and unwavering support for the afflicted population.
As per media reports, the earthquake, which occurred on Saturday, October 7, has unleashed destruction upon no fewer than twelve villages, and tragically claimed the lives of over 2,000 individuals in the province of Herat.
