RASC News Agency: Hamid Karzai, the former president of Afghanistan, has recently voiced his strong disapproval regarding Pakistan’s treatment of Afghanistani refugees, deeming it both inappropriate and a violation of the principles of good neighborliness in the international realm.
In a profound declaration shared across various social media platforms, Karzai emphatically stated that the internal issues witnessed in Pakistan have no bearing or connection to Afghanistan or its afflicted refugee population. He further underscored that the conduct exhibited by the Pakistani government starkly contradicts the long-standing historical tradition of hospitality and generosity demonstrated by the Pakistani people towards Afghanistani refugees over the course of the past four decades. Karzai fervently believes that the presence of Afghanistani immigrants within Pakistan’s borders has the potential to bestow significant economic and social benefits upon the nation.
As the former president of Afghanistan, Karzai resolutely implored the Pakistani government to exercise prudence and caution in their dealings with Afghanistan while emphasizing the paramount importance of adopting futuristic thinking, strategic planning, and maintaining a civilized approach to bilateral communication.
These resolute declarations made by Karzai are prompted by a multitude of reports that have surfaced regarding the detention and ill-treatment of Afghanistani refugees within the confines of Pakistan.
Significantly, it should be noted that the Pakistani government had previously declared its intention to deport all undocumented asylum seekers residing within the country. Amongst these vulnerable refugees are approximately 1.73 million Afghanistani nationals lacking legal documentation. In accordance with the Pakistani government’s ultimatum, these individuals are required to depart the country by the stipulated deadline of November 1 of the present year.
Emphasizing the gravity of the situation, the Pakistani government has underscored that should all the asylum seekers without proper documentation, including Afghanistani nationals, fail to comply with the specified deadline, they will be forcefully expelled from the country.
