RASC News Agency: An American official, John Kirby, said in his most recent statement on the Taliban group performance that the Taliban are accountable for their actions.
An American official said at a press conference on Tuesday, October 3 in Washington, D.C., that normalizing relations with the Taliban is challenging, and that the US holds the group accountable for its actions.
He added: “It is difficult to normalize relations with the Taliban group. We hold them accountable for their commitments.”
This is despite the fact that a few years ago, the Taliban group made some commitments to the international community, especially the United States, during an agreement.
These commitments include preserving the gains of the past two decades, severing ties with terrorist organizations, upholding human rights, particularly women’s rights, and establishing an inclusive government in Afghanistan that the Taliban entrusted to the US.
It should be noted that John Kirby had already said that the US does not have any plan to recognize the Taliban group.
He added that the Taliban group has not fulfilled any of their commitments since they took over Afghanistan and they have acted contrary to their promises to form an inclusive government and respect women’s rights.
This is despite repeated statements by U.S. officials that the country does not recognize the Taliban. U.S. and other European countries repeatedly says if the Taliban want to get recognition, they should hold an inclusive government and respect women and girls right, as well as, removing severe restriction on women and girls education and basic needs.
