RASC News Agency: Following the removal of Persian words from the boards of government institutions, the Taliban group removed the word “Daneshgah” from the signboard of Al-Biruni University.
Sources told Medias that the Taliban group removed the words “Daneshgah” and “Daneshkada” from all the signboards of this university and replaced them with the Pashto words “Pohanton” and “Pohanzai”.
These sources added that the signboard of Al-Biruni University was changed by the order of the appointed head of the Taliban group in this university on Monday, September 25.
Al-Biruni University is located in Kapisa province.
According to these sources, professors and students of this university, who are mostly Persian speaker, could not protest against the removal of Persian language from the name of the university because of the fear of the Taliban group.
It should be mentioned that in the last two years, the Taliban group removed the Persian language from the boards of government institutions, especially scientific centers and universities, and replaced them with Pashto terms.
Afghanistan is a country with different ethnicities and languages; But Persian and Pashto were introduced as two official languages in the previous constitution. With the Taliban regaining control over Afghanistan, a number of experts have said that the Taliban are seeking “anti-Persianism” and assimilation.
