RASC News Agency: Antonio Guterres, Secretary General of the United Nations, at the same time as the two-year ban and restriction on the education of Afghanistani girls by the Taliban group, said that the Taliban group has unjustifiably violated human rights with this action.
Guterres made these statements on the eve of the United Nations General Assembly meeting in New York City, in a message on Monday, September 18, on his X (former Twitter) social media.
According to Mr. Guterres, the deprivation of girls from education in Afghanistan causes long-term damage to the entire country.
He added: “Today, two years have passed since the ban on girls attending middle and high schools in Afghanistan. Girls belong to school, let them come back in.”
This is despite the fact that since the Taliban took control of the country, this group has committed widespread and systematic violations of human rights, especially women’s rights.
In Afghanistan, under the control of this group, girls above the sixth grade were prohibited from going to school, the gates of universities and other educational institutions were blocked for girls.
It should be noted that this action of the Taliban group against Afghanistnai women and girls has brought national and international reactions, and countries in the region and the world have repeatedly asked this group to give girls the right to education.
The implementation of repressive policies and the imposition of restrictions on Afghanistani women by the Taliban caused a large number of these women to protest in different parts of Afghanistan and countries around the world.
