RASC News Agency: Following the arrest of several journalists by the Taliban group in different provinces of the country, the Afghanistan Independent Journalists Union (AIJU) has expressed concern about this trend.
In a statement published on August 11, this union said that the continued detention of journalists by the Taliban group will lead to the weakening of the foundation of freedom of expression and the lack of motivation of journalists in Afghanistan.
In a statement, this union has expressed its concern regarding the arrest of Habibullah Sarab, a freelance reporter of Ariana TV in Paktia, and Jan Agha Saleh and Faqir Mohammad Faqirzai, reporters of Killid Radio in Nangarhar.
It is mentioned in the announcement that although the reason behind the arrest of three journalists in Paktia and Nangarhar is not yet clear, the arrest of journalists will weaken freedom of expression and demotivate journalists in Afghanistan.
In this connection, this institution once again emphasized the follow-up of cases, related to the work of journalists and the media by the Media Complaints and Violations Commission and added that the Media Complaints should handle these cases and Media Violations Commission, which is the only legal authority to deal with Journalists’ problems, should be followed up.
This is despite the fact that in recent days, the arrest of journalists has increased in different provinces of the country.
At the same time, the organization supporting free media (NAI) also asked the officials of the Taliban group to end the process of arrest and illegal behavior against journalists.
The Taliban group has not had a good relationship with women, media and journalists since they took over the country and they have always sought to weaken their morale and suppress them.
