RASC: “Afghanistan Liberation Front” has condemned the Taliban group’s restrictions on Muharram and Ashura ceremonies.
This front wrote in a statement that this action of the Taliban group was carried out “in the direction of de-diversification of the Afghanistan society” and called it the result of the “extremist” thoughts of this group.
This front wrote in a statement on Sunday, July 23, that the month of Muharram in Afghanistan has been a symbol of the unity of Shia and Sunni religions for many years.
The Afghanistan Freedom Front has written that the Taliban group, as an “anti-people” group, has a mission to destroy the religious tolerance in the Afghanistan society and “to push the society towards the one-sided and extremist narrative of the Taliban.”
This front says that the Taliban group, by imposing restrictions on the celebration of Muharram, is trying to destroy the culture of “great resistance against oppression” in the people and in this way ensure the continuation of their regime.
The restrictions of the Taliban group on the Shia Muharram ceremony in Afghanistan have led to widespread reactions.
Rahmatullah Nabil, the former head of Afghanistan’s National Security Directorate, wrote in a tweet that the Taliban group seeks to suppress religious diversity and impose its extremist views on others.
According to Nabil, the Taliban group’s restriction on the Muharram ceremony shows the group’s opposition to equality and religious freedom.
It is mentionable, that Taliban group imposed many restrictions in the Muharram ceremony in Kabul and central provinces of the country on the eve of Ashura ceremony.
