RASC: While the number of suicides, mysterious and targeted murders have increased in different parts of the country after the Taliban took control of the country, a number of local media officials and journalists said that the Taliban have imposed new restrictions to prevent them from covering such events.
One of the officials of the local media in Badghis, who does not want to be named in the news, said on Saturday, July 15, that journalists in this province can only publish the events that the Taliban group provides them with.
He added: “We don’t have permission to cover the news, we can’t publish suicides, targeted killings are not covered, and we have to get permission from the Taliban to publish all the events.”
The local officials of the Taliban group in Badghis have not said anything about this so far.
This is not the first time that the media and journalists face restrictions from the Taliban in the field of broadcasting events.
After retaking control of the country, this group severely repressed the media and journalists in different parts of the country and in addition to imposing restrictions, they even monitor citizens’ social networks.
It should be mentioned that the members of the Taliban group have previously arrested, imprisoned and tortured several people on the charge of what they call negative propaganda against this group.
