RASC: Following the registration of five positive cases of polio in the country, the Ministry of Public Health of the Taliban group announces the start of a special polio vaccination campaign in the east of the country.

The ministry said by publishing a newsletter that this campaign is going to start today, Saturday, July 8, and continue for four days.

The ministry said that the provinces in which the special polio vaccination campaign has been launched are Nangarhar, Laghman, Kunar and Nuristan provinces, and during this campaign, nearly 1.2 million children are supposed to receive polio vaccination.

Dr. Nik Wali Shah Momen, head of the National Polio Eradication Center, asked families to vaccinate their children, including infants and visitors, so that they are safe from this dangerous disease.

It should be noted that five positive cases of polio have been registered throughout the country this year, and it has been said that Afghanistan and Pakistan are the only two countries that have not succeeded in eradicating the poliovirus.

Polio is a disease that cannot be cured, and since 1988, a global effort to eradicate it began, and since that year, cases of this disease have decreased by more than 99%.
