RASC: The National Resistance Council to Save Afghanistan condemned the burning of a copy of the Quran in Sweden by publishing a statement and called the burning of the Quraan a “violation of the values and beliefs” of Muslims and an extremist act.
In its statement on Tuesday, July 4, this council demanded that the UN and the government of Sweden investigate the case of the person who set fire to the Quraan.
Recently, on the first day of Eid al-Adha, a person set fire to a copy of the Quraan outside the central mosque of Stockholm, the capital of Sweden.
This action was strongly condemned by Islamic countries and these countries demanded an urgent meeting regarding this action.
It should be noted that in addition to the reactions of Islamic countries, Pope Francis also condemned this act, and said that freedom of speech should not be an excuse for insulting the sanctities of Muslims and another religions.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia, which houses the holiest places of Muslims, asked the world to boycott Sweden’s commercial products a few days ago because of this action.
It should be noted that this incident occurred when the Swedish police issued permission to burn the Quran outside the mosque in the capital of Sweden.
This is despite the fact that the Secretary General of the United Nations, in response to this act, said a few days ago that burning the Quran is an offensive act, but it is not illegal in some countries.
