RASC: Irene Khan, the UN Human Rights Council’s special rapporteur on freedom of opinion and expression, has recently said that women in Afghanistan are marginalized from the civil space and social life.

She further called the role of women’s rights groups as important and said that these groups have come under severe pressure in a number of countries, especially Afghanistan.

In her speech, Irene Khan emphasized that women’s rights groups play a very important role in fighting for gender equality and promoting women’s capabilities.

In a part of his statement, he warned that the presence and existence of women has been completely eliminated by the Taliban group.

At the same time, the Permanent Representative of Afghanistan to the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva has criticized and expressed concern about the increasing violence against women and girls in Afghanistan.

Soraya Aziz said that since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, women and girls are exposed to increasing risks of violence.

At the same time, Sohail Shaheen, the head of the political office of the Taliban group in Qatar, said that this group adheres to the rights of women in the light of “Islamic principles”.
