RASC: According to the announcement of UNAMA, the meeting of the United Nations Security Council on the situation in Afghanistan is scheduled to be held in New York today, Wednesday, June 21.
The office of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) has announced that this meeting is scheduled to be held at 6:30 PM Kabul time.
The people who will speak in this meeting will be Roza Atenbayeva, the special envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General in Afghanistan and the head of UNAMA.
In its announcement, UNAMA did not provide more information regarding the agenda of this meeting.
This meeting is held while recently the analysis and monitoring team of the United Nations Security Council’s Punishment Committee said in a report that the Taliban group has returned to their “oppressive Pashtun-centric” policies of the 1990s.
This team stated in a part of its report that there are evidences that Al-Qaeda is reviving to carry out its operations and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan TTP is leading its attacks inside Pakistan with the support of Afghanistani Taliban.
Zabihullah Mujahid, the general spokesman of the Taliban group, denied this report and called it far from reality.
