RASC: As restrictions on the work and education of Afghanistani women continued, the President of Indonesia demanded the lifting of these restrictions.
Indonesian President Joko Widodo expressed this on Tuesday, May 23, at the signing ceremony of the trade cooperation agreement with Iran.
This agreement was signed in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia.
Joko Widodo, who hosted his Iranian counterpart, Ebrahim Raisi, in Jakarta, the capital city of that country, also said:
“We agreed that we will continue to support the Palestinian war, solve the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan and demand women’s access to education in Afghanistan, as well as provide humanitarian aid to Afghanistan people.”
After the re-establishment of the Taliban group in Afghanistan in August 2021 and following the imposition of serious restrictions on Afghanistani women and girls, Saudi Arabia, the Islamic Society of Indonesia, Al-Azhar University in Egypt, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and a number of Islamic countries want to remove this restriction.
Nevertheless, the Taliban group says that they can respect women’s rights within the framework of Islamic Sharia.
