RASC News Agency: Mohammad Sadiq, Pakistan’s former Special Envoy for Afghanistan, has issued a stark warning to the Taliban, declaring that failure to confront the threat posed by Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) will lead to the annulment of all existing bilateral agreements between Kabul and Islamabad. In an address at a seminar in Islamabad, Sadiq called on the Taliban to engage seriously with the growing security and terrorism challenges and to demonstrate genuine cooperation. “Are the Taliban once again waiting for a catastrophe on the scale of September 11?” he asked, warning that the TTP has become the most dangerous fault line in Afghanistan-Pakistan relations.
He stressed that if the Taliban continue to ignore this pressing issue, all agreements between the two nations would be rescinded and no progress would be made on any other front. “Pakistan stands ready to support Afghanistan in a significant way—but only if we can contain the terrorism seeping across our border,” he stated. Sadiq emphasized that the presence and activities of the TTP within Afghanistan must become an immediate priority in bilateral talks between Kabul and Islamabad. “The solution is not simply about killing or capturing individuals and extraditing them. These groups must be contained and systematically dismantled,” he said.
He revealed that Pakistan has compiled a list of 500 Afghanistani nationals allegedly involved in terrorist operations within Pakistan, some of whom, he claimed, are linked to prominent Taliban families. Concluding his remarks, Sadiq criticized the Taliban’s lack of action, despite their control over the entirety of Afghanistan’s rural regions. He warned that TTP operatives are carrying weapons freely, facing no resistance, and that this inaction could plunge Afghanistan into deeper chaos.
