Marco Rubio: The U.S. Will Not Rest Until All Americans Are Freed from Taliban Prisons

RASC News Agency: U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has reaffirmed that the United States will not relent until every American detained in Afghanistan and held hostage worldwide is released. His remarks came in response to the recent liberation of American citizen Fay Hall from a Taliban prison in Kabul. Fay Hall, who was freed on March 29, released a video statement recounting her time in Taliban captivity. She revealed that many female prisoners frequently asked her, “When will Trump return?” a reference to former U.S. President Donald Trump. According to Hall, these women viewed Trump as a “savior” and anticipated his return to power as a means of securing their freedom.

Hall was detained by the Taliban two months ago in Bamiyan, alongside a British couple and their Afghanistani interpreter. While Hall has now been freed, the Taliban continues to hold her three companions in custody. Her release marks the fourth instance of an American being freed from Taliban captivity in 2025. Prior to her, three other U.S. nationals Ryan Corbett, William McKenty, and George Glezman were also released. The exact number of U.S. citizens still imprisoned by the Taliban remains unclear. However, one of the most prominent detainees is Mahmood Shah Habibi, an Afghanistani-American citizen who is still in Taliban custody. The U.S. State Department has recently expressed deep concern over Habibi’s situation, as well as that of other American hostages held by the Taliban.

These developments underscore Washington’s unwavering commitment to securing the freedom of its citizens held by hostile groups such as the Taliban. The Biden administration continues to engage in diplomatic and strategic efforts to ensure that every American detained in Afghanistan or anywhere else in the world returns home safely.
