RASC News Agency: The Taliban’s continued campaign of violence against Afghanistani citizens claimed another victim as a young man was fatally shot by the group at a checkpoint in Nimroz province. Local sources in Nimroz reported that the tragic incident occurred in the Khashrod district, where Taliban forces opened fire on the young man on the evening of Sunday, January 12. Eyewitnesses stated that the victim, identified as 25-year-old Sayedullah, was shot after crossing a Taliban checkpoint on his motorcycle in the village of Gharghari.
The victim’s body was laid to rest the following day, according to sources. Taliban officials in Nimroz have yet to issue any statements regarding the incident. This killing is not an isolated case. In recent months, the Taliban have been implicated in numerous violent acts at checkpoints. Just last month, Taliban forces reportedly killed a Panjshir resident in Kabul, and in another incident, fatally shot an individual in Faryab province.
Since the Taliban’s resurgence in Afghanistan, reports of extrajudicial killings at their checkpoints have surged. Citizens accuse the group of reckless behavior, arbitrary actions, and a complete disregard for the rule of law. The Taliban have repeatedly faced accusations of openly and covertly murdering individuals, yet they consistently evade accountability. Reports indicate that the group routinely shields its members from prosecution, absolves them of guilt, and deflects blame onto victims or opposing factions.
