National Resistance Front: Ansarullah Seeks to Topple Tajikistan’s Government Under the ISIS Banner, Following Taliban Ideology

RASC News Agency: The Head of Foreign Relations for Afghanistan’s National Resistance Front (NRF) has asserted that Ansarullah, a militant group aligned with the Taliban and al-Qaeda, is conspiring to overthrow the government of Tajikistan by operating under the guise of ISIS. According to Ali Maisam Nazary, fighters from Ansarullah openly praise Mullah Omar, the Taliban’s founder, and align themselves with his extremist ideology. Nazary revealed the existence of videos in which Ansarullah members express their admiration for Afghanistan’s Taliban leadership. He shared one such video on his X account, showcasing Tajikistani militants venerating Mullah Omar and his legacy.

He further alleged that the Taliban in Afghanistan harbor numerous terrorist organizations, most of which actively operate against neighboring nations. Nazary stressed that a united front is essential to combat terrorism in Afghanistan, as “ISIS, the Taliban, and al-Qaeda are merely different faces of the same threat.” The NRF official accused the Taliban and al-Qaeda of concealing their terrorist activities by falsely attributing them to ISIS. “Time and again, the Taliban have blamed their own attacks on ISIS to deflect accountability and disguise their true intentions,” Nazary remarked.

In a related development, anti-Taliban groups previously claimed that the assassination of Khalil Haqqani, a senior figure in the Haqqani Network, was orchestrated by the Kandahar faction of the Taliban. These groups alleged that the Kandahar-based Taliban faction collaborated with ISIS to mask their involvement in Haqqani’s killing. Recent reports indicate that Ansarullah has intensified its assaults on Tajikistan, posing a significant security threat. Furthermore, several Ansarullah fighters are reportedly entrenched in Afghanistan’s Badakhshan region, where their activities are escalating regional tensions and undermining stability.
