Durani to Stanekzai: “The Path of Suicide is Misguided; Teach the Next Generation to Live”

RASC News Agency: A heated exchange unfolded on the social media platform X between Asif Durani, Pakistan’s former envoy to Afghanistan, and Abbas Stanekzai, the Taliban’s Deputy Foreign Minister. The confrontation centered on recent retaliatory actions. Responding sharply to Stanekzai’s remarks, Durani stated with biting irony, “Suicide is never a noble choice. Let us teach the next generation how to live, not how to die.” in his initial post, Durani lamented the recent cross-border tensions, calling them a sobering episode for the Afghanistani Taliban. He underscored that the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) represents a critical red line that must not be breached under any circumstances.

Stanekzai, in a retaliatory response, issued a stern warning to Pakistan, suggesting the country should heed the lessons of recent Taliban actions. He wrote, “Anyone who dares to cast a malicious glance at us or our country will have their eyes torn out with righteous fury.” Durani countered with a measured yet pointed rebuttal, urging the Taliban to adopt a more rational stance. “May God grant you greater wisdom, Stanekzai. The path of suicide is misguided and destructive. Instead, we must instill in the next generation the values of living, not dying,” Durani asserted.

The rising tensions between Pakistani officials and the Afghanistani Taliban come against the backdrop of escalating clashes between Taliban forces and TTP militants, which have grown more intense in recent days.
