RASC News Agency: UNICEF, the United Nations Children’s Fund, has announced that it successfully treated more than 475,000 malnourished children in Afghanistan during 2024. In a statement released on Monday, January 10, UNICEF highlighted that fortified food was distributed across 3,300 service points throughout the country to combat child malnutrition. The organization emphasized that children suffering from malnutrition urgently require access to highly nutritious food to recover and thrive. Two months earlier, UNICEF reported screening approximately one million children to identify cases of malnutrition.
United Nations agencies have repeatedly raised alarms about the alarming rise in cases of severe malnutrition among Afghanistani children. Additionally, reports suggest that beyond delivering humanitarian aid, these agencies are allegedly funding thousands of Taliban-operated religious schools under the guise of supporting education in Afghanistan. While international organizations work tirelessly to alleviate the malnutrition crisis among Afghanistani children, Taliban leadership continues to exploit national and international resources for political, ethnic, and economic gain, showing little concern for the widespread poverty, hunger, and unemployment devastating the country.
When questioned by Afghanistani citizens about their role in the governance of Afghanistan, Taliban officials dismissively state, “Your share was secured during the 20 years of occupation and through international aid. We waged the jihad, and now Afghanistan belongs to us. Your duty is simply to obey our regime.”
