RASC News Agency: The Taliban’s Supreme Court announced that the group carried out public flogging of two individuals in the Warmami district of Paktika province on Wednesday, citing allegations of extramarital relations. According to the court’s statement, one of the accused was subjected to 39 lashes, while the other received 29 lashes. In addition to corporal punishment, the Taliban sentenced the first individual to five years in prison and the second to two months of imprisonment. The identities of the accused have not been disclosed. Despite mounting international condemnation, the Taliban continue to report the implementation of corporal punishments on an almost daily basis.
Human rights organizations have repeatedly urged the Taliban to halt such practices, emphasizing the brutality and illegitimacy of these actions. However, the group has shown no willingness to comply, even while benefiting from financial, political, and intelligence support from the United States, certain Western nations, and Eastern powers. Reports suggest that the Taliban have secured assurances from the United States, guaranteeing that no external force will disrupt their governance. Emboldened by such promises, the group continues to justify these punishments under the guise of enforcing “Islamic Sharia.” Analysts note that the Afghanistani people, under the pretext of religious adherence, are being subjected to relentless oppression and suffering.
Religious scholars and observers argue that the punishments meted out by the Taliban, purportedly in the name of Islam, are fundamentally neither Islamic nor lawful. Instead, they view these actions as being driven by ethnic biases and intelligence-based agendas, masquerading as religious doctrine.
