RASC News Agency: Local sources in Nangarhar Province report that families of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) members are being relocated to Kabul and several northern provinces of Afghanistan under Taliban supervision. According to a source, the Taliban have facilitated the movement of TTP members from districts such as Shinwar, Ghani Khel, Kot, Bati Kot, Momand Dara, and Ghoshta in Nangarhar to Kabul and northern regions. While some families have already been transferred, others are expected to be relocated shortly.
Two Taliban insiders confirmed to media outlets that the relocations are being carried out with the coordination of Taliban intelligence. The transfers are reportedly conducted at night, using designated vehicles to ensure discretion. This relocation initiative gained urgency following the targeted killings of several TTP commanders and members in Kunar Province. In recent weeks, numerous TTP operatives have been attacked by unidentified assailants, resulting in fatalities and injuries in both Kunar and Nangarhar Provinces.
One prominent incident occurred last Tuesday, when Omar Bajaur, a senior TTP commander, was killed along with two associates. They were reportedly staying as guests of an Afghanistani Taliban member in Kunar’s Shigal District when unidentified gunmen opened fire, killing them on the spot. Following Bajaur’s assassination, the pace of TTP relocations from Nangarhar has intensified significantly. A source noted that the exact number of TTP families residing in Nangarhar remains unclear. Local Taliban officials in the province have so far refrained from commenting on the matter.
Pakistan has previously urged the Taliban to prevent the TTP from using Afghanistan territory as a launchpad for attacks on its soil. Islamabad has consistently accused the Taliban of providing support and safe havens to the TTP, further straining bilateral relations.
