1,208 Afghanistani Refugee Families Expelled from Iran and Pakistan in the Past Week

RASC News Agency: According to data compiled from Bakhtar News Agency under Taliban administration, Iran and Pakistan deported a total of 1,208 Afghanistani refugee families, either forcibly or voluntarily, over the past week November 9–16. The data indicates that Iran expelled 891 families, while Pakistan deported 317 families during this period. Of the returning families, 145 entered Afghanistan through the Torkham border, while another 172 families crossed via Spin Boldak.

Meanwhile, 337 families returned through the Silk Bridge crossing in Nimroz, and 554 families entered via Islam Qala. These figures align with the prior week November 2–9, during which 1,239 Afghanistani refugee families were deported. Iran accounted for 942 of these families, with Pakistan expelling 297.

Nader Yarahmadi, Deputy Interior Minister of Iran and Head of the Bureau for Aliens and Foreign Immigrants Affairs, has reiterated that the deportation of “unauthorized” foreign nationals remains a key policy for Iran this year. He identified the Dogharoun border as the primary eastern checkpoint used for repatriating Afghanistani refugees.

Similarly, Pakistan continues to implement its policy of forced deportations targeting Afghanistani migrants. However, numerous deported families from both Iran and Pakistan have voiced serious grievances regarding mistreatment, inhumane behavior, and violations of basic human rights by law enforcement in both countries.

These deportations, coupled with reports of abusive practices, underscore the escalating humanitarian challenges faced by Afghanistani refugees. Amid mounting regional pressure and tightening policies, the plight of displaced Afghanistani families grows increasingly dire.
