RASC News Agency: Sources in Logar province report that the Taliban have detained eight individuals, including one woman, on charges of “illicit relations” in the region. The Taliban’s Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice issued a statement confirming the arrests, stating that its enforcers apprehended the eight individuals in the Baraki Barak district of Logar, accusing them of “illicit relations” and “moral corruption.”

According to the ministry’s statement, which was released today Monday, November 12, the detainees were apprehended in the village of Qala-e Shah Ghasi, located in Baraki Barak. However, the ministry has not provided further details about the individuals’ fate or the specifics of the charges against them. Earlier, the Taliban reported the arrest of seven individuals in Kabul province on various charges, including theft and immoral conduct.

Since Taliban leader Hibatullah Akhundzada endorsed the decree on the Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, the group’s enforcers have significantly increased the number of arrests related to alleged moral offenses. These detentions have been reported across various provinces, including Kabul. Afghanistani citizens have claimed that many of these arrests are arbitrary, with some alleging that the Taliban are detaining and torturing individuals based on baseless accusations or ethnic and sectarian bias.

Since the Taliban’s return to power, the group has frequently announced weekly arrests of individuals accused of what they describe as “immoral acts” and “moral corruption.”
