Five Casualties Reported in Nangarhar Over Land Dispute

RASC News Agency: Local sources in Nangarhar report a violent clash between the Amarkhel and Sapi tribes in the “Bar Bahar” region of Khogyani district, leaving three dead and two critically injured. The confrontation, which unfolded on Friday, October 25, underscores the escalating and often unresolved issue of land disputes in Afghanistan.

Reports indicate that the injured are in critical condition, while the specific tribal affiliation of the deceased remains unconfirmed. The Taliban’s Nangarhar police command has acknowledged the incident and confirmed that several individuals allegedly involved have been detained. A few months ago, a similar dispute in Bati Kot district claimed another life, highlighting a trend of increasingly lethal land conflicts.

Disputes over land have surged among families and tribes nationwide, leading to significant fatalities. Just last week, a man in Kandahar fatally stabbed his brother over a land-related quarrel. Year after year, these conflicts claim lives across Afghanistan, yet successive Afghanistan governments have repeatedly overlooked the issue, providing little intervention. In rural areas, disputes over land, water rights, and mountain grazing resources frequently spark violence, with many such incidents escaping media attention due to their remoteness and limited public visibility.
