RASC News Agency: Local sources in Badghis province have reported that an armed group ambushed and shot passengers traveling along the Badghis-Faryab road. This incident took place on the evening of Thursday, October 17, in the Qaisar district of Faryab province, on the route connecting Badghis and Faryab. Eyewitness accounts indicate that several of the vehicle’s passengers were killed or injured, though the exact number of casualties has not yet been confirmed. So far, the Taliban authorities in both Badghis and Faryab have remained silent on the matter, offering no official comment.
No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the attack. This incident follows a similar attack in which unidentified gunmen targeted a vehicle carrying residents of Daykundi in the Pahlosang Pass of Ghor province, near the border with Daykundi’s Sangtakht and Bandar districts. That previous assault resulted in 14 fatalities and six injuries. Despite these recurring violent incidents, the Taliban continue to assert that they have established total security across the country, claiming that no armed groups operate within Afghanistan.
However, these claims are being increasingly challenged by civilians, who question how such attacks can occur if the Taliban truly have full control. Many Afghanistanis believe that the Taliban themselves are behind these murders, using the guise of “unknown gunmen” to deflect responsibility. There have been numerous occasions where witnesses have seen Taliban members executing civilians in public, only for the Taliban to later attribute the attacks to other groups.
