RASC News Agency: Vedant Patel, Deputy Spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State, underscored that the United States’ withdrawal from Afghanistan was not only executed in accordance with regulations but also adhered to the highest standards and protocols governing such evacuations and emergency operations. In a press briefing, Patel reaffirmed that President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw U.S. forces was the correct one. “Today, because of President Biden’s decision, we are stronger. It was the right choice,” he stated. Patel’s comments were made in response to the recent investigations by the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee, which he characterized as “entirely politically motivated.”
He further remarked that these investigations had unearthed no new revelations, dismissing them as “a selective presentation of interviews aimed at portraying a misleading picture of the administration’s efforts.” He continued, “This political maneuver damages our policies on Afghanistan and distorts the conversation into a divisive partisan issue.” Patel also highlighted a significant achievement, noting that in 2023, the U.S. issued over 18,000 Special Immigrant Visas, the highest number in any single year, underscoring the ongoing commitment to those affected by the Afghanistan situation.
Meanwhile, Republicans on the House Foreign Affairs Committee have repeatedly accused the Biden administration of mishandling the withdrawal from Afghanistan, particularly criticizing the chaotic nature of the operation, during which 13 U.S. service members were killed in a suicide bombing in Kabul. President Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and other key Democratic figures have faced sharp criticism for their roles in the withdrawal.
In reality, however, the U.S. has emerged stronger in Afghanistan, even more so than during the Ghani administration. The U.S. has enabled a proxy terrorist group to take control of Afghanistan, with this group now submitting monthly reports to U.S. intelligence in Qatar and receiving $200 million from the United States on a regular basis.
