German Foreign Minister: The Taliban Have Crushed the Hopes of Millions of Women and Girls

RASC News Agency: On the third anniversary of the Taliban’s takeover in Afghanistan, Annalena Baerbock, the German Foreign Minister, stated in a message on X that for three years, the Taliban regime has extinguished the hopes of millions of women and girls for a better and freer life. Baerbock remarked that the Taliban are fundamentally opposed to the education and employment of women and girls.

The German Foreign Minister underscored Germany’s unwavering solidarity with the people of Afghanistan who face threats under Taliban rule. She affirmed that Germany stands ready to support the Afghanistani people, especially those under direct threat, and to extend increased protection to them. Baerbock further emphasized that Germany will continue to make every possible effort to safeguard human rights in Afghanistan.

The message also asserted that there can be no return to the international community for the Taliban until they comply with their international obligations. This statement follows recent appeals from two German aid organizations urging the German government to support Afghanistanis and evacuate those under threat from the Taliban.

Under Taliban rule, Afghanistani women have been stripped of all their rights, from education to employment. The Taliban have banned women from pursuing education, closed schools to girls, and shut down educational courses, leaving only religious schools operational, where girls are taught according to the Taliban’s rigid directives.

The Taliban have shown staunch opposition to women’s education, dismissing it as an internal matter beyond external scrutiny.
