RASC News Agency: Local Taliban authorities and sources from Faryab province have reported that a young woman has tragically taken her own life. Sources from Pashtun Kot district in Faryab province have informed the media that a young woman in this district hanged herself, successfully ending her life.
Shamsullah Mohammadi, the Taliban’s Director of Information and Culture in Faryab, confirmed the incident, stating that an 18-year-old girl named “Mozhgan” committed suicide. According to this Taliban official, the event took place this morning, Saturday, August 10, in the village of Aq Dara within Pashtun Kot district, at the young woman’s home.
The Taliban official added that the young woman took her life due to family problems, and investigations into the incident are ongoing. This incident occurs amid a concerning rise in suicides, particularly among young people, in various provinces. Most of these tragedies are linked to domestic violence.
Furthermore, restrictions imposed by the Taliban, lack of employment opportunities, economic hardships, and mental health issues are cited as additional factors contributing to the increase in suicide rates among the country’s citizens. Reports indicate that the deprivation of girls from education, along with forced marriages, are among the factors that drive young women to suicide, leading them to end their lives in despair.
