Teenage Girl Commits Suicide in Faryab

RASC News Agency: Local sources from Almar district in Faryab province report that a teenage girl named Nargis has ended her life by hanging herself. According to sources, on Tuesday, August 6, the 14-year-old girl committed suicide in her home in the village of Hazara Qashlaq in Almar district.

The exact motive behind her suicide remains unclear, and local Taliban officials in Faryab have yet to issue any statements regarding the incident.

This case highlights a troubling trend: since the Taliban’s return to power, there has been a notable increase in suicides, particularly among women, girls, and young people. Contributing factors include Taliban-imposed restrictions, economic difficulties, mental health challenges, and domestic violence.

Furthermore, the Taliban have imposed severe educational restrictions, barring girls above the sixth grade from attending school and closing university doors to them.
