Arrest of Two Former Military Personnel by Taliban Intelligence in Laghman

RASC News Agency: Local sources in Laghman province report the continued detention of former military personnel, with two ex-military members recently arrested by Taliban intelligence forces in this province. Sources informed the media on Saturday, August 3, that Taliban intelligence forces apprehended these former military members three days ago in Dawlat Shah district, Laghman province.

According to the sources, these two ex-military personnel, identified as Gul Nabi and Pacha Gul, were recently deported from Iran and had returned to Afghanistan. The sources narrated that these two individuals served as local police officers in Laghman during the previous government. Following the fall of the republic, they had sought refuge in Iran.

Currently, these former military personnel are being held in a Taliban intelligence prison in Laghman province. It is worth noting that the detention, imprisonment, torture, and in some cases, killing of former military personnel by Taliban forces in various provinces is not a new issue. In a recent incident, three former military personnel were arrested by Taliban forces in Takhar province three days ago on charges of collaborating with the National Resistance Front.

It is significant to note that despite the Taliban leader’s announcement of a general amnesty following their takeover, the group continues to arrest, imprison, torture, and kill former military personnel. Reports indicate that the Taliban have used the guise of a general amnesty to arrest and kill hundreds of former military personnel under various pretexts.
