National Resistance Council: Taliban Lacks Authority Over Afghanistan’s Diplomatic Missions

RASC News Agency: The National Resistance Council for the Salvation of Afghanistan has declared that the Taliban does not have the authority to make decisions regarding the country’s diplomatic representations. On Friday, August 2, the council issued a statement asserting that the Taliban’s position on discrediting the decisions of Afghanistan’s political representatives is fundamentally invalid and unenforceable.

The council emphasized that the Taliban neither possesses the requisite authority nor does their decree hold any legitimacy. The council has urged all diplomatic missions of Afghanistan to continue their duties without disruption. This statement follows last week’s declaration by the Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which labeled the activities of Afghanistan’s diplomatic missions in European countries as unauthorized and invalid.

The National Resistance Council has stressed that the Council of Ambassadors of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan should warn ambassadors and heads of political missions that any engagement with the Taliban constitutes a crime and misuse of authority. The council further suggested that embassies should proceed with their normal operations.

The council has also called upon host governments to maintain the diplomatic immunity of Afghanistan’s political representatives abroad and to revoke the diplomatic immunity of those collaborating with the Taliban. According to the National Resistance Council, the Taliban acts as a protective umbrella for 20 terrorist groups, posing a security threat to the European Union through any engagement with this group.

The council declared that the Taliban have harbored terrorists similar to themselves. This statement comes four days after the Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs invalidated the operations of at least 14 of Afghanistan’s diplomatic missions in Europe, demanding these missions establish relations with the Taliban ministry.
