RASC News Agency: Local sources in Kandahar report the discovery of a woman’s body, allegedly stoned to death, in the Haji Aghalalai area of the Ghorak district. According to these sources, several individuals brought the young woman to the location and executed her by stoning. Details about the woman’s identity or the perpetrators remain undisclosed.
The victim’s body is currently being held at the Ghorak District Health Center in Kandahar. The Taliban have yet to issue a statement regarding this incident. This is not the first time a woman’s mysterious death has been reported in Kandahar, though stoning is a rare occurrence. The perpetrators and their motives are unclear, but similar past incidents often involved the Taliban.
Since taking control of Afghanistan, the Taliban have detained, tortured, and flogged numerous women under various pretexts and accusations, with some cases involving stoning. In the past three years, Afghanistan has seen an increase in mysterious and unprecedented killings under Taliban rule, with many attributing these acts to the group.
The Taliban adhere to a strict interpretation of Sharia law, often resorting to stoning women accused of adultery or other moral transgressions. In addition to stoning, the group has been known to arrest and flog women under a variety of charges. Previously, in Sar-e Pol province, the Taliban flogged 65 individuals, including 20 women, on various unproven charges.
