Taliban Arrests Doctor in Nangarhar

RASC News Agency: Local sources in Nangarhar province report that Taliban intelligence forces have recently detained a specialist doctor as part of their ongoing arbitrary arrests. On Saturday, July 20, sources told the media that this doctor was arrested from his private clinic in Jalalabad, the provincial capital, last week and taken to an undisclosed location.

According to the sources, the doctor, identified as Yaqoub Shinwari, was detained for reasons that remain unclear. The Taliban have not provided any information to his family regarding the arrest. Local Taliban officials in Nangarhar have yet to comment on this incident. This arrest is not an isolated case, as the Taliban’s detention of citizens across various provinces has been a recurring issue throughout their three-year rule. The group has consistently detained individuals on various charges.

In a recent incident, Taliban forces in Kabul province reportedly beat and arrested a father and son originally from Panjshir province, subsequently transferring them to an unknown location. During nearly three years of Taliban rule, the group has been repeatedly accused of violating the rights of citizens, especially women and ethnic and religious minorities. They remain unaccountable to any individual or institution for these actions.
