RASC News Agency: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin engaged in discussions regarding the situation in Afghanistan. They expressed their support for an independent, united, and peaceful Afghanistan, free from terrorism, war, and drugs, living in harmony with its neighbors and respectful of human rights and freedoms.
In a joint statement encompassing 81 points, released following Narendra Modi’s visit to Russia, both leaders emphasized their support for a secure Afghanistan, noting that its security is vital for both nations. The statement, issued on Tuesday, July 9, also addressed the current situation in Afghanistan. The leaders underscored the significant role of the Moscow Format meetings in facilitating the resolution of Afghanistan issues.
The declaration highlighted that both Russia and India stress the need for humanitarian aid to Afghanistan without any political conditions. During their dialogue, both parties emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation in combating terrorism. They called for an uncompromising fight against terrorism and international extremism in all its forms, based on international law and the UN Charter, without hidden agendas or double standards.
Referring to recent attacks in India and Russia, both leaders noted that these “terrorist attacks” serve as a stark reminder of the need to strengthen cooperation in the fight against terrorism. Meanwhile, the Russian government has consistently urged the Taliban to form an inclusive government in Afghanistan, incorporating all ethnic groups. The Taliban, however, maintain that their government is inclusive and assert that this is an internal matter.
