Former Military Officer Dies Under Taliban Torture in Kabul

RASC News Agency: Reliable sources from Kabul province report that a former military officer has died under Taliban torture in the Mir Bacha Kot district of Kabul. On Sunday, July 17, sources informed the media that the Taliban had detained this former officer, named Sher Mohammad, on Friday evening. They accused him of possessing weapons and took him to the district center, where he was severely tortured and subsequently killed.

According to the sources, Sher Mohammad, a relative of Zamary Paikan, the former commander of the Public Security Police, had served in the ranks of the Public Security Police during the republic. The sources added that Sher Mohammad’s body was found hanging in the office of the Criminal Manager of Mir Bacha Kot, with the Taliban presenting it as a suicide.

Family members of Sher Mohammad reportedly questioned the Taliban’s account, arguing that if he had committed suicide, he would have hanged himself in the detention center, not in an official office. Despite the Taliban’s declaration of a general amnesty after their takeover, reports indicate that they continue to exact revenge on former military personnel. These reports reveal that Taliban members in various provinces have detained, tortured, and, in some cases, killed individuals associated with the previous government under various pretexts.
