RASC News Agency: Several residents of Helmand province have expressed grievances over the arbitrary and biased actions of the Taliban in judicial courts and related administrative offices. Many residents report encountering unnecessary questions and obstacles while processing documents in courts and government offices.
Kamran, a 45-year-old resident of Helmand, told RASC, “When I went to the court to obtain an official marriage certificate, I faced harsh and biased treatment. I had to chase after the certificate for three months, enduring numerous difficulties and frustrations until I finally succeeded in obtaining the official marriage certificate from the Taliban court.” Another Helmand resident, speaking anonymously, shared with RASC, “Whenever we have business at a government office, we face countless problems. The Taliban tell us to come back only when we have our appearance in line with their standards; otherwise, we can forget about getting any work done.”
Residents of Helmand province are complaining about the Taliban’s arbitrary and unwarranted behavior, noting that since the Taliban’s return to power, there has been an increase in unnecessary pressures and intrusions into the personal lives and identities of people. This comes on the heels of similar complaints from residents of Kunduz province last week. They reported that government officials show no respect for the people and speak dismissively and rudely at will.
It is worth noting that since the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, complaints about government offices have surged. People accuse government employees of arbitrary, ethnic, regional, and religious discrimination, with such incidents becoming more prevalent under Taliban rule.
