RASC News Agency: Masoom Stanekzai, the head of the former government’s peace negotiation team, has urged the Taliban, regional players, and the international community to avoid secret deals at the Doha meeting. Stanekzai criticizes the contradictory stances and actions of the international community, asserting that such inconsistencies have exacerbated the crisis in Afghanistan.
He highlights the significant gap between the words and actions of these players, which he believes will only deepen the crisis they themselves lament. Stanekzai also points out that regional countries should learn from Pakistan’s policies, which led to the downfall of Imran Khan with the intention of undermining others. Moreover, he notes that the Taliban leadership, while complaining about various issues, ignores the legitimate demands of the people. He argues that the Taliban’s efforts are limited to weak religious justifications that result in halting development, employment, and education.
With a pointed reference to the Taliban, Stanekzai remarks that experts in every field now have widespread access to religious knowledge. He warns the Taliban to heed the people’s legitimate demands to avoid seeking foreign assistance. Stanekzai further commented on the current state of Afghanistan, saying, “This approach is unsustainable,” and emphasized that the solution for Afghanistan lies in uniting “under a broad national umbrella.”
Previously, women have boycotted the Doha meeting, stating that any meeting excluding women lacks legitimacy. They assert that women constitute half of society and must be included. The Doha meeting will see the participation of the Taliban and their opposing parties.
