RASC News Agency: The United Nations Trust Fund for Afghanistan has announced that Italy has donated $3.1 million to support the country under Taliban rule. According to a statement released on Thursday, June 13, on the social media platform X, this donation aims to strengthen collaborative efforts in Afghanistan.
The fund specified that the funds will be allocated towards women’s empowerment, climate change initiatives, and sustainable solutions for displaced persons and returnees. This represents Italy’s first contribution to Afghanistan through the United Nations Trust Fund since the Taliban assumed control.
Earlier, Denmark announced its third donation of $7.29 million to Afghanistan. Furthermore, the European Union’s Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations pledged €150 million to address the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. Since the Taliban came to power, there has been a significant rise in the number of individuals requiring humanitarian assistance across various provinces.
The reduction in the operational scope of aid organizations due to Taliban-imposed restrictions, particularly those affecting women’s employment and activities, is identified as a major factor contributing to the increase in humanitarian needs.
