RASC News Agency: Sources from the Taliban’s General Directorate of Intelligence report that several employees have not received their salaries for several months. Sources informed the media on Thursday, June 13, that the payment of these intelligence employees’ third month of salary has also been deferred.
According to the sources, the Taliban have assured some of their intelligence staff for the third consecutive month that their salaries will be paid “soon.” Sources indicate that the Taliban had promised their intelligence employees that their salaries would be disbursed on Thursday, just before Eid al-Adha, but this promise was not fulfilled.
It remains unclear whether this inability to pay salaries is limited to the intelligence directorate or extends to other security and defense departments within the Taliban regime. Over the past two and a half years, international organizations such as the Red Cross and UNICEF have been paying the salaries of some civilian government departments, including the Ministry of Public Health and the Ministry of Education.
